Research shows that all organizations, including churches, are held together, not through physical resources and assets, but through beliefs, identity, mission, and values. These invisible spiritual resources are essential to the health and effectiveness of any organization. Sadly, the agenda of our churches today are often driven by the demands of visible assets and invisible mission-less motives, leaving little energy for leaders to nurture the life-giving spiritual resources the give power to the church. This class will explore ways for church leaders to form and activate a creative, dynamic, mission-oriented congregation.

Thursday May 03, 2018
Jennifer McNutt
This session will address the perception that Christianity and science have a history of conflict and are inherently at odds with each other. Dr. McNutt will highlight lesser-known stories of how Christian pastors have consistently promoted and contributed to the emergence of modern science from the Scientific Revolution to the modern era as part of their commitment to advancing the Gospel. Examples of "ministers in lab coats" can help to dispel the characterization of conflict that continues to shape current-day perceptions and stunt contemporary conversations over the relationship between Christianity and science today.

We will talk through several principals we are learning and discuss how to develop a Kingdom Ecosystem across your city. 100 Churches of 100 is the beginning of a movement awakening in the Pacific Northwest.

Wednesday May 02, 2018
Jeremy Marshall
Perhaps some of the most troubling portions of scripture are those passages in the Old Testament that call for the total annihilation of enemies. Some see them as wholly positive, even ethically normative. Others would erase them from scripture altogether. But is there a more excellent way of understanding and using these texts? Drawing on the early films of horror director Wes Craven, this class suggests that the Bible itself is ambivalent about, and even critical of, these texts. When read through the lenses of Craven's films, we find that the whole of scripture--especially the witness and ministry of Christ--questions and subverts the texts of genocide and vengeance.
